I just thought that I’d share the fact that I recently wrote my Congressional Representative, Dave Reichert. I had written once to my State Senators, but this is my first time communicating with someone out in Washington DC. I did once receive a letter from the President, but that was just a form letter. I have a picture of that envelope somewhere and will be sure to include it in this post later.
Anyway, e-mailing your Rep. seems pretty damn easy so if anything is bugging you lately, which there certainly must be, why not send them a message to inform them of your feelings. I had a few points I wanted to cover including Rep. Reichert’s co-sponsoship of a bill to protect personal information, a recent bill introduced regarding data deletion, and of course domestic spying by the NSA and the government’s subpoena of Google.
Speaking of domestic spying, did anyone else get to hear the Attorney General using George Washington as an example of a past president that had authorized domestic electronic surveillance? I haven’t taken the time to locate a copy of the clip, but the latest Off the Hook program (Feb. 14 or 15) has it in there. All these privacy concerns really have me thinking that it might be time to contribute to the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
