Satisfaction

For some reason there’s nothing more satisfying than seeing someone that deserves it get it from the man. While getting it from the man really sucks, someone else getting it is really nice to see. The most satisfying is to see someone passing you really fast on the road get a ticket, but I wasn’t quite that lucky. Instead, I got to see someone get pulled over for violating carpool laws. Here in the Seattle area there is actually a phone number you can call (764-HERO) to report carpool violators – it’s that big of a deal. Anyway, on one of the horrendous freeway interchanges, there’s a special lane for carpoolers to get around and merge in way ahead of the line. Yaeka and I were cruising along behind some large SUV in the carpool merge when all of a sudden he nearly gets into an accident cutting a car off in the right lane. As he moved from our view we saw a cop standing on the left shoulder behind his car. The cop just pointed to the guy in the SUV and then to the shoulder and we happily went on our way. That’s what you get SUV man!

    wasn’t there a band called 764-HERO?

Indeed there was a band called 764-HERO. For some reason bands here in the Pacific Northwest seem to really enjoy using regional landmarks, street names, etc. as band names. These include Sleater-Kinney, Green River (band that split to form Pearl Jam and Mudhoney), and as noted, 764-HERO. If you like 764-HERO I’d recommend checking out Treasure State, the singer in the band is the brother of the singer in the Shins.

Unfortunately, i think i remember thinking that 764-HERO were a bit lame as compared to some of their other north-west contemporaries, but i may check out treasure state nonetheless.

764-Hero is better than Treasure State. As much as I love crappy vocals, 764-Hero’s vocals are less crappy.
Treasure State are very nice lovely people. They gave Phill a free shirt.

Yeah, 764-HERO is definitely better than Treasure State. If you weren’t really into 764-HERO, I might steer clear, well maybe if you can find an mp3 or something to check out first. But they are indeed super nice.

Hrm…it seems to me like this guy was thinking that 764-Hero was crappy compared to Pearl Jam (and maybe Nirvana). Though perhaps he was using Sleater-Kinney as the reference point. I really do enjoy 764-Hero, and I have been enjoying the treasure state Yaeka put on my mixed tape. Though now that I got my iPod I don’t listen to the mixed tape anymore.
